The Deadpool & Wolverine trailer offers a brilliant Easter egg for Marvel Comics fans

Rob Liefeld is the co-creator of Deadpool and is also a Marvel Comics artist famous for the New Mutants and X-Force comics. Although Liefeld is credited as the co-creator of the Merc with a Mouth and the time-traveling Cable, he is also known for some incredibly horrific illustrations on the covers and pages of Marvel Comics. You may have seen Liefeld’s Captain America artwork online from time to time, among other things when it was auctioned last yearand it is one of the most widely mocked comic book images from its history at Marvel:

But Liefeld isn’t just known for drawing ridiculously large chests like these. He is also known for both He avoids drawing feet in his artwork and simply draws them poorly. Liefeld is so bad at drawing feet that he once drew X-Men team member Jubilee’s left foot on her right leg (see below), and this isn’t the only time he’s made such a mistake.

In fact, there was even a joke in Deadpool 2 in which Wade Wilson expresses how silly Domino’s superpower of luck is by asking out loud, “What coked-up, glass-pipe-sucking freakshow cartoonist came up with this little chestnut?” ! Probably a guy who can’t draw feet!” Liefeld himself appreciated the joke, which Reynolds actually suggested to the comic creator before it made the final cut. So you can be sure he’s okay with this stunt that puts his name on a shoe store called Liefeld’s Just Feet.

It’s a reference that Marvel Comics fans will appreciate, and now that you understand Liefeld’s infamous history with comic feet, you can laugh at it too. When “Deadpool & Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26, 2024, there will definitely be many more meta references like this.
