Matteo Garroneis the Oscar-nominated drama Io Captain triumphed in Italy‘S David di Donatello Film awards on Friday evening, awards for best film and best director.

The film, about the worries and hardships of two Senegalese teenagers trying to reach Europe across the Sahara and the Mediterranean, also won best producer for Archimede, Rai Cinema, Pathé and Tarantula, best sound and best special effects . Camera work and editing.
