Woods and McIlroy’s TGL begins in early January

The TGL, which will feature six teams of four players, is powered by TMRW Sports, a technology-focused sports company launched by Woods and McIlroy in August 2022.

Serena and Venus Williams, Stephen Curry and Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group are among the supporters.

Each team will play five matches in a round-robin league format between January 7 and March 4, with the top four teams earning places in the play-offs, which begin on March 17.

Before each match, teams will choose three players to compete in 15-hole competitions, divided into two sessions: nine holes of three-person alternating shots followed by six holes of single head-to-head play.

Points are awarded for winning a hole and the team with the most points at the end is the winner. In the event of a draw, the winner will be decided by a nearest pin contest.

Golfers begin their holes by hitting shots onto a 64 feet by 46 feet screen. Once inside about 50 yards, they’ll switch from the simulator to hit live-action greens, which have actuators that can rotate and change the putting surface.

The entire 2025 season will be held at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens.
