West Indies vs South Africa 2nd Test: Half-centuries help South Africa take 239-run lead on day two

Aiden Markram and Kyle Verreynne hit half-centuries in South Africa’s second innings on Friday, giving the Proteas a 239-run lead on the second day of the second cricket Test in Guyana.
At stumps, South Africa were 223/5 after scoring 160 runs in their first innings on Thursday. West Indies were all out for 144 in their first innings on Friday.
Markram made 50 and Verreynne made an unbeaten 51. Jason Holder (54 not out) and Shamar Joseph (25) added 40 for the 10th wicket to take the home team 16 runs behind South Africa’s first innings score.
After 17 wickets fell on the first day at Providence Stadium, eight wickets fell on the second day. Wiaan Mulder took four wickets for South Africa and Jayden Seales has so far taken 3-52 for West Indies in South Africa’s second innings, while he also took three wickets in the first innings.
The first Test in Trinidad was affected by rain, after which three Twenty20 matches will be played between the two teams.
