Transfer News LIVE: Al-Ahly consider new Toney bid, Sterling wants ‘clarity’ on Chelsea situation, ready to skip Leicester
Victor’s dream shattered?
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is determined to leave the club this summer, and he is strongly linked with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, club director Giovanni Manna has confirmed that the Nigerian international could remain with the Serie A club in Italy if interested teams do not join the club.
But the club want to sell him so they can complete their transfer business and give Antonio Conte the squad he wants.
Conte even claimed that Napoli’s transfer plans are ‘blocked’ unless Osimhen is sold.
These claims have been backed up by Manna, who said: “It is an objective fact, the situation has been blocked because of what the coach said.
“Victor is an important player, whose value and conditions are important. His wish is clear. We have tried to maintain the integrity of the team at this time. We are not the only club in this situation and we will see what happens in the next ten days.”
“It’s not right to say at this point what the feelings are. We are trying to find the best solution together with his teammates. As we said, he is an important player, so it’s not like we can find him anywhere.
“His contract is for the next two seasons, so obviously if we can’t find a solution by August 30, we will have to speak to the player.”
Napoli have lowered their asking price for Osimhen but they still want 100 million euros for the forward, which is just under £85 million.
Chelsea and PSG are the clear contenders for his signature, while Arsenal are focusing on Mikel Merino instead of a new striker.
