Since injuries affect teams in the NFL each year, star players have a chance to prove themselves after being injured from one season to the next, as they can make a strong comeback and be in the running for the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

Last season, after being out for a significant amount of time, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco signed with the Cleveland Browns to take over for Deshaun Watson, who suffered a season-ending injury, putting the franchise in a difficult position during a potential championship window.

Though nobody expected much from Flacco as he was well past his prime in the NFL, the one-time Super Bowl champion performed much better than expected and helped the Browns make the NFL playoffs without Watson or superstar running back Nick Chubb, who also suffered a season-ending injury early in the 2023 campaign.

Entering the 2024 NFL season, several players are in the running for Comeback Player of the Year, with Chubb making the list and being one of the players with favorable odds to win the regular-season award.

Along with Chubb, Daniel Jones (New York Giants), Anthony Richardson (Indianapolis Colts), Kirk Cousins (Atlanta Falcons), Aaron Rodgers (New York Jets) and Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) are all in the race, with the last two quarterbacks being the favorites, according to FanDuel TV.

While Richardson has a good chance to win the award, Burrow and Rodgers might have the best chance, as they could be playing for real Super Bowl title contenders.

Only time will tell which of these star players is poised to have a breakout year and win the regular season award.
