Sweden’s Ludwig Aberg will have arthroscopic surgery this week to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, Golf Channel reported Monday.

Aberg, who is fifth in the Official World Golf Ranking, finished tied for 16th at the Tour Championship in Atlanta on Sunday. He withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship in May citing knee pain and played the following week in the PGA Championship wearing a brace.

According to reports, 24-year-old Aberg will be able to start playing golf again about three to four weeks after the procedure and could possibly play a limited amount of time this fall.

He is the defending champion at the RSM Classic, scheduled for Nov. 21-24 on St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Aberg has finished in the top-10 eight times in 19 PGA Tour starts in 2024, including a runner-up finish at the Masters — his first appearance at a major tournament.

Aberg missed the cut at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship and finished T12 at the U.S. Open. He tied for second at the BMW Championship last month.
