Sachin Tanwar emerged as the most expensive player on the first day of the players’ auction for the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 in Mumbai on Thursday. Tamil Thalaivas spent Rs 2.15 crore to sign the star Indian kabaddi player for the upcoming 11th edition of the PKL.
Iran’s Mohammadreza Shadlooi Chayaneh also managed to get a huge deal of Rs 2.07 crore from Haryana Steelers. Pawan Seharwat, the most expensive player in the history of the tournament, was successfully retained by Telugu Titans for Rs 1.72 crore.
Gujarat Giants also pulled money out of the bank to sign Guman Singh for Rs 1.97 crore, but they will have to spend heavily on the second day of the auction to balance their team for the next season. After the auction, Sachin Tanwar expressed his happiness and said that he was surprised to receive such a big bid from Tamil Thalaivas.
“I thought I would get Rs 1.70-1.80 crore,” said Sachin Tanwar. “I was nervous before the auction and this night will always be memorable for me. Earlier the auction used to be worth lakhs, now it is worth crores which is a big thing for the sport and the youth. Kabaddi has reached this level.”
