‘No individual contractors’ – As millions in fines loom in Haason Redick contract saga, New York Jets all-star defense puts NFL on notice
“I think we have a very close-knit group, everyone is there for everyone, there are no individual contractors here,” says Javon Kinlaw.
complete new york The Jets franchise has been waiting a long time for the night they experienced on Thursday.
As aaron rodgers Went back years to eliminate rivals new England PatriotsEveryone around the Jets started dreaming about what could have been this season – Even if things got a little ‘weird’ with the coach,
As the Jets came together, one player watched, as he has all season. Haason Reddick has yet to suit up for Gang Green this season as he is set to sign a new contract.
His strength disappeared behind the brilliant defensive performance of his teammates on the field.
The edge-rusher was traded from the Eagles to the Jets in April, leaving him with an ongoing contract dispute.
In the final year of a three-year deal he signed with Philadelphia worth a total of $45 million, the Jets were figuring that the 30-year-old would report for mandatory offseason training this summer.
But Reddick refused to come Now the fine has been imposed Up to $8 million upon reaching the fourth week of the regular season.
Meanwhile, the Jets’ defense has gone from strength to strength, recovering from a tough opener against San Francisco to give up only 20 points in their last two games, improving to a 2-1 winning record.
talking specifically with talkSPORT’s brand new dedicated YouTube channel End ZoneJets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw highlighted the reasons for the group’s impressive performance.
“Mainly for me, it’s been a confidence thing,” Kinlaw said.
“It feels like everyone in the organization from top to bottom believes in me and when you have that belief behind you, it propels you, it propels you forward.
“It’s amazing to be next to Quinnan (Williams) because he’s one of the smartest football players I’ve been around, he knows the game at a high level.
“It shows every Sunday. But it starts with practice, the way he practices, the way he prepares, it’s inspiring.
“Being next to Solomon Thomas, I played with him, not a lot, but in his rookie year with San Fran… the way he prepares, how smart he is.
“I think we have a very close-knit group, everyone is there for everyone, there are no individual contractors here. Everyone wants to see everyone else shine and you love to see it in a group.
“Everyone believes in me and the rest takes care of themselves. When you get that trust, it definitely skyrocketed my confidence.”
Kinlaw recorded one of the Jets’ seven total sacks in his impressive performance against the Patriots, holding Jacoby Brissett to less than 100 passing yards.
While there were high expectations for this Jets defense coming into the season, the performance at this level without Redick remains impressive.
Redick has become one of the NFL’s standout pass-rushers in recent years with double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons, peaking with 16 for the Eagles in 2022.
