MLB Playoffs: Bracket, Start Dates, TV Times, Results

Major League Baseball’s postseason begins on Tuesday, October 1 with the start of the Wild Card Series. The field is set for the American League, but the National League will need an extra day to complete things as three teams compete for the remaining two spots.

The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves split a doubleheader at Truist Park on Monday, punching their ticket to the postseason. A two-run home run by Francisco Lindor in the ninth inning of Game 1 gave the Mets an 8–7 victory. Atlanta defeated New York 3–0 in Game 2 to secure a postseason berth. The Mets will travel to Milwaukee for a Wild Card Series matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, while the Braves will play against the San Diego Padres.

The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed the No. 1 overall seed and will face the winner of the Braves or Padres in the Division Series. The Philadelphia Phillies ended the Braves’ six-season run as NL East champions and will face the winner of the Mets/Padres series.

The New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns earned first-round byes due to being the top two seeds in the American League. The Wild Card Series will feature the Houston Astros hosting the Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles facing the Kansas City Royals.
