England Defenders Marc Guehi Set to play in Crystal Palace’s Premier League opener against Brentford, there are reports linking him with Newcastle.
Palace have reportedly received an offer of £65million. Magpies The honour comes after the 24-year-old captain was named after his impressive performances at Euro 2024.
chairman Steve Parish Earlier in the week it was said that Newcastle would have to pay “superstar money” and the Eagles boss Oliver Glassner It has been confirmed that Guehi remains in contention to play in Sunday’s match against the Bees at the GITEC Community Stadium.
“Yes, Mark trained with us today, we talked to each other,” Glasner told a news conference.
“I don’t have any other information, I’ll have to check my bank account to see if anything has come in but it doesn’t seem so (so) so we make plans (for the game) with Mark.
“He’s our player, he’s our captain and I can’t tell you anything else than that.”
Guehi joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021 for a reported fee of £18 million and has two years left on his contract.
Asked if £65million would be too much to turn down, Glasner replied: “I don’t know how the chairman defines superstar money so that’s a question you’ll have to ask the chairman.”
While discussions are ongoing regarding Guehi’s future at Selhurst Park, his centre-back partner Joachim Andersen is likely to be named in a move to Fulham.
Glasner, who lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer, remained tight-lipped when asked about the transfer speculation.
“I think now we talk about a lot of players who have rumours about them,” the Austrian said.
“It’s Joachim Andersen, it’s (Eberechi) Eze, it’s Jordan Ayew and several others, it’s Adam Wharton, and that’s about a number of comments on rumours.
“I am very close to the players and we talk almost every day.
“Until someone says to me ‘Hey, I’m leaving the club’ or the club says to me ‘This player is leaving the club’, we work with them every day and prepare the team so we can be competitive for a Premier League match.”
Brazilian forward Matheus Franca is Palace’s only absent player because of a fractured rib.
Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta returned to training with the Eagles this week after joining up with France at the Paris Olympiques, while summer signings Ismaila Sarr, Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada could make their debuts.
