England batsman David Malan has retired from international cricket at the age of 36.
Along with Jos Buttler, Malan is one of only two men to score centuries in all three formats for England, having played 22 Tests, 30 one-day internationals and 62 T20Is.
In 2020 he became the world’s number one T20 batsman and the fastest player to reach 1,000 international runs in the format in just 24 innings.
The left-hander was part of the England squad that won the 2022 T20 World Cup but has not played an international match since the 50-over World Cup in November.
while talking to many times, externalMalan said he had “exceeded all expectations” in white-ball cricket but feels he could have played more Test matches.
He said, “Test cricket has always been paramount for me.”
“There were times when I played well, but in between I had bad performances or I wasn’t consistent, which was frustrating because I thought I was a better player than that.”
He has scored 1,074 runs in Test matches at an average of 27.53 and 1,450 runs in One Day Internationals at an average of 55.76.
He is England’s fourth-highest run-scorer in men’s T20I cricket with 1,892 runs at an average of 36.38.
