Tuesday – AC Milan vs Liverpool – Mohamed Salah

Liverpool faced reality against Nottingham Forest on Saturday but they will be able to bounce back against AC Milan, who have conceded twice in three of their four games this season, and Mohamed Salah is set to play a key role at the San Siro.

Salah scored in home and away matches against the Rossoneri the last time these two teams met in 2021 and has managed to score in each of the Reds’ opening three games this season, assisting two goals in their 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Wednesday – Man City vs Inter Milan – Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland was an anonymous presence in their Community Shield match against Manchester City, their cross-city rivals, but the Norwegian sharpshooter has since returned to terrific form.

He tops the Premier League goalscoring charts with nine goals in four games, an extraordinary tally that comes on the back of a league-high 13. The 24-year-old has scored 41 goals in 39 Champions League matches and could equal Alessandro Del Piero in the all-time goalscoring charts on Wednesday.

Thursday – Monaco vs Barcelona – Lamine Yamal

Barcelona have been in impressive form this season and their most recent success came in a 4-1 rout of Gorina, with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal continuing his impressive start to the campaign.

The 17-year-old was the breakout star of Euro 2024 and has sparkled for the Catalan side this season, scoring three times and assisting four times in his opening five games.

Friday – Augsburg vs Mainz – Nadiem Amiri

Central midfielder Nadiem Amiri was relegated to a backup role for the first half of Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning campaign last year, but his move to Mainz in January proved a shrewd one and he has started this season well.

The 27-year-old has scored two goals in four games this season and scored from the spot in a 3-3 draw with Stuttgart, showing he has overtaken striker Jonathan Burkard when it comes to penalty takers. He will face an Augsburg side who have conceded eight goals in four competitive games this season.

Saturday – Bristol City v Oxford – Mark Harris

Mark Harris, who scored 15 goals in 43 games in Oxford United’s promotion-winning campaign, has adjusted well to life in the Championship and could be the latest in a long line of players to score against a weak side like Bristol City on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has scored in four of his five games in the second tier and will now face a defence that has conceded 12 goals in just six competitive games this season, including consecutive 3-0 defeats against Derby and Blackburn.

Sunday – Lyon vs Marseille – Mason Greenwood

Marseille continued their impressive start to the Ligue 1 campaign with a 2-0 win over Nice on Saturday, and although Mason Greenwood couldn’t score either of those goals, there’s no denying that this controversial move for the 22-year-old is working on a footballing level.

The former Manchester United man endeared himself to Marseille fans by playing a key role in a 5-1 rout of Brest on his debut, scoring two goals and having a hand in the other three. With goals against Reims and Toulouse he equalled Mario Balotelli’s record of five goals in his first three games, and he can add to that tally against a Lyon side that have conceded eight goals in four games.
