This week the month of August comes to an end and we are already deep into the new campaign, with the European qualifiers finishing in the next few days. This leads to another busy weekend, before the first international break of the campaign.
I have taken a closer look at this week’s fixtures and placed a bet on the scores of both teams each day from Tuesday to Sunday. Below you can see the 29/1 tip that was picked with bet365. New bet365 customers can also take advantage of this fantastic offer below!
Both teams have to score long haul accumulator
Tuesday – Birmingham City v Fulham
Birmingham have performed well, winning three games in a row after a busy summer and have added proven talent to their side in League One, giving them depth for Tuesday’s cup clash with Fulham.
The visitors should target this contest, but Premier League teams tend to turn around in the early stages. Last season they took the Carabao Cup seriously and made it to the semi-finals, with both teams scoring in each of their six matches.
Fulham have conceded goals in each of their first two league games, while three of the Blues’ first four games have seen both sides score.
Wednesday – Athletic Bilbao vs Valencia
Valencia have had a tough start to the new La Liga season, suffering defeats against Barcelona and Celta Vigo. Los Che have scored in both defeats, meaning they have scored in 10 consecutive league games.
On Wednesday they face an Athletic Bilbao side that has plenty of attacking options. However, both teams have conceded goals in their first two games, and have shown their problems scoring from the back. With one clean sheet in their last five home league games, Athletic should look to lose again.
Thursday – Puskas vs Fiorentina
Puskas showed no fear in last week’s trip to Florence as he went 2-0 up inside 12 minutes. Fiorentina then hit back to take a 3-2 lead before Hungary equalised in the last minute.
This leaves the contest fairly balanced going into the second leg. Puskas has scored at least three times in four of his five European games this summer, so this game is expected to be a tight contest. Both teams have scored in 11 of Fiorentina’s last 13 games in all competitions, so expect goals in Hungary.
Friday – Lyon vs Strasbourg
After a promising end to last season, Lyon have had a very slow start to this campaign. They have lost 3-0 to Rennes and 2-0 to Monaco in their opening two games of the campaign.
Strasbourg come into this match in form after a 3-1 win over Rennes on Sunday. The visitors have conceded goals in 14 of their last 15 Ligue 1 away matches, including a 2-1 loss at Lyon in May. The hosts should return to form in front of goal, while Strasbourg have shown some real threat in their opening matches, so both teams have a shot at scoring.
Saturday – West Ham v Man City
Manchester City conceded a goal inside three minutes against Ipswich on Saturday and should be tested at West Ham. The Hammers won at Crystal Palace at the weekend and have produced good expected goals in their first two games under Julen Lopetegui.
City have looked open in their opening two games so far and the Hammers’ impressive forward options should take advantage.
Sunday – Sheffield United v Watford
Sheffield United’s strong start has waned a little after scoring draws with QPR and Norwich. They will host a Watford side who are looking strong having won their first four matches of the campaign.
The Hornets have scored 13 goals in those four wins, while they were 3-2 victors at Millwall on their first visit of the campaign. QPR and Wrexham have both scored twice on visits to Bramall Lane this season, so back both teams to score.
