But what Salah said after the match at Old Trafford made big headlines, as the 32-year-old dropped a big hint that This season will be his last at Liverpool,

“I had a good summer, I had a lot of time to work on myself and think positively because, as you know, this is my last year at the club,” Salah said.

“I just want to enjoy it and not think about it.

“I feel free to play football, and let’s see what happens next year.”

Salah’s Anfield contract expires in the summer, meaning he will be able to leave Merseyside on a free transfer, and the Egyptian says the club have not approached him about a new contract.

“Before going into the game I said, ‘Look, this could be the last time (at Old Trafford)’,” Salah added.

“Nobody has spoken to me about a contract, so I will play my last season, and see at the end of the season.”

“It’s not up to me, it’s up to the club, but we’ll see.”

“I think mo is wrong Passionate. Like Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of scoring records, appearance records, longevity in the game,” Carragher said Sky Sports,

“For most of us, when you get to 35 you’re pretty much out of football but I think the way the guy looks after himself, I think he wants to play until possibly 40, or certainly his late 30s.

“I don’t think a situation like the one in Saudi is likely for Mohamed Salah next season; he is too good a player. He is playing in the best league in the world for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Paddy Pimblett includes Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez in his all-time Liverpool five-a-side team!

“I think whether it’s this season or the next two seasons, he’s up there with Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard in the list of the top players to have played for Liverpool.

“He’s probably one of the best wingers or best wide players we’ve seen in this league.”

“Of course you fight to keep him,” Carragher said. “It’s not about throwing money at him. When you get a new contract it’s not about what you’ve done in the past, it’s about what you’re going to do in the future.

“Most players when they get to 30 they can’t do what they used to. Maybe he’s different.

“I think that’s where the debate will be. Of course Liverpool would want to keep him and Virgil van Dijk.

“It will probably be about salary, are they still on the same salary they are on? Because will they be the same players in the next two or three years? That will be up for debate.

“I would be very surprised if Mohamed Salah doesn’t play for Liverpool next season, because I think he would want to break every record in the club’s history.”
