Alabama cemented itself as the best team in college football by defeating Georgia 41-34 on Saturday.
Even before the end of the first half, the game seemed to be out of hand. No. 4 Alabama scored 21 points in the first quarter and added another touchdown early in the second quarter. After the No. 2 Bulldogs finally got on the board, the Tide held on to take a 30–7 lead in the second half.
But then Georgia stormed back, scoring a touchdown in the third quarter and holding Alabama to a field goal. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs scored 20 unanswered points and took a 34–33 lead with two and a half minutes to play.

Alabama needed just one play to regain the lead as Jalen Miller connected with 17-year-old freshman receiver Ryan Williams for a 75-yard touchdown and converted the two-point attempt to make it 41–34.

Although this allowed Georgia to mount a massive comeback, Alabama’s defense stepped up in the most important moment of the game. Freshman cornerback Zabian Brown picked off Carson Beck in the end zone to secure the Tide’s victory.
With the win, Miller established himself as the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, gaining 374 passing yards, 117 rushing yards and four total touchdowns.

Had Georgia completed the comeback, it would have been the largest comeback in school history and one of the largest top-five wins in NCAA history. Instead, Kellen DeBoer has the biggest win of his early career at Alabama.
Although the Bulldogs couldn’t leave Tuscaloosa with a win on Saturday, it’s clear that Georgia is going to be a national title contender once again.
And fans can get another matchup like Saturday, whether it’s the SEC Championship Game or the College Football Playoff.
