Home is where the heart is.

This was one of the major topics discussed by Chennaiyin FC head coach Owen Coyle ahead of his side’s home match against Mohammedan SC on Tuesday.

CFC, who have played seven of their first 10 Indian Super League matches away, will be hoping to put up a better show in front of their ardent fans.

“The schedule is as it should be. We prepare for the games and we know we can win. We are at home now, this is one of the few games here in the first 10 for us.

“We want to make sure we do our best here,” Coyle said.

Chennaiyin had a tough start to the season last year and only managed to qualify for the playoffs thanks to a strong finish to the league campaign. Coyle is aiming for a better start this time around.

“It’s been a while since that great performance at the end of last season with some fantastic wins.

“Hopefully if we can be as strong in the second half as we were last year, we will be in a really good position. We need to pick up points away from home as well so that when we get the chance to play at home we can take advantage of it.”

He also stressed the need to build a team that does “justice” to their beloved fans. “I want to deliver a team that the fans enjoy watching, and that will happen whether we win/lose/draw. Hopefully we can give them a team that represents them.”
