The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves at a critical moment in the 2024 NFL season, with trade rumors swirling around star wide receiver Davante Adams.

Initially, it seemed like they were intent on retaining the three-time All-Pro, but recent events indicate a possible change of heart.

After a rocky start under head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders’ win against the Cleveland Browns raised the stakes, putting a greater focus on their decision-making abilities.

NFL insider Albert Breer recently shed light on the situation and reported that teams keeping an eye on Adams are convinced he is pushing for a trade with the New York Jets.

“Teams involved in the market for Davante Adams have become convinced that the Raiders star is focused on engineering a trade with the Jets. According to sources, the (Buffalo) Bills and (Pittsburgh) Steelers are among those who have inquired with Vegas about Adams,” Breyer wrote on X.

Breyer said the Bills and Saints face some tricky salary cap issues that could complicate any potential trade.

The 31-year-old is a former teammate of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Saints’ Derek Carr.

“Clearly, Adams’ relationship with the QB plays a role in his priorities,” Breyer also wrote.

Amid trade talks, Adams is about to miss his second consecutive game with a hamstring injury.

He will be sidelined for the Week 5 contest against the Denver Broncos, while he has already been ruled out for the Week 4 game against the Browns.

Teams are interested in Adams due to an injury he suffered during practice and it is being said that he could be out for 1-2 weeks.

Although he is expected to miss the next game, there is an optimistic hope that if his recovery goes well he could be available next week. Who he will play for then remains an open question.
