Tuesday – Sevilla beats Valladolid

Sevilla have struggled at the start of this season, but a 1-0 win over Getafe in their last home match was a sign of progress. The former Europa League winners are likely to spend another season rooted in the top half, so the home tie with Real Valladolid is a must-win.

The visitors have gone five games without winning, scoring once. They have lost three games in a row this season and Valladolid have lost six of their last seven La Liga outings. As a result, Sevilla have the chance to register another home win.

Wednesday – AZ beats Elfsborg

AZ have had a great start to the new Eredivisie campaign, winning five of their first six games. They have won their first two home matches of the season, including a 9-1 thrashing of Heerenveen in their last match at the AFAS Stadium.

Elfsborg sit sixth in Sweden’s Allsvenskan and look out of their depth on this trip. While the visitors have made a remarkable run from the first round of qualifying to reach the league stage, this is a serious step up in quality and AZ’s flying start could continue.

Thursday – Eintracht Frankfurt beats Viktoria Plzen

Eintracht Frankfurt beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 at home on Saturday to register their third consecutive win in the Bundesliga. The 2022 Europa League winners are returning to the competition for the first time since their win over Rangers in Seville.

Viktoria Plzen come into this trip fresh from a 3-0 defeat at Slavia Prague. They progressed through the qualifiers with a couple of decent draws, but are expected to fall behind a Frankfurt side who have won two of their two at home this season.

Friday – PSG beat Rennes

PSG fell behind at the weekend for the first time this season but have had a full week to prepare for Friday’s clash with Rennes. The French champions have won five of their first six games and have been dominant at home.

The hosts have scored 10 times and conceded once in three home matches in all competitions. Rennes have already lost to Strasbourg and Reims this season, so PSG should take all three points.

Saturday – Brentford beat West Ham

West Ham have had a poor start to the season under Julen Lopetegui, losing three of their first five games in the league. While the Hammers have benefited from trips to Crystal Palace and Fulham, Saturday’s trip to Brentford could be a problem.

The Bees have lost away to Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham this season, but have won all three home matches so far. Given how easily Chelsea beat the Hammers on their own ground, back a Brentford side that looks well placed to win after some strong performances.

Sunday – Swansea beat Bristol City

Bristol City managed a crucial win over Oxford last weekend, but the Robins lost 3-0 for the second time in succession. Defeats at Derby County and Blackburn suggest they may struggle on this trip to South Wales.

Swansea won at Coventry at the weekend, which follows a home win over Norwich. The Swans have taken seven points from three home Championship games this season. Back them against a Bristol City side who have won one of their last 10 league away days.
