Brazil women’s national gymnastics teammates Jade Barbosa and Flavia Saraiva reunited to celebrate this weekend Previous marriage. In a video posted on both their Instagram accounts on Saturday, Barbosa is seen preparing to throw her bouquet. Saraiva is in the background, with her heels replaced by a slide and a drink in hand. Her other hand is on her hip and she is looking at the commotion over the thrown flowers. As the lucky recipient celebrates and embraces Barbosa, Saraiva raises her glass, looks at the camera and smiles.
He captioned the video, “Enquanto umas cacame…” which roughly translates to “While some go hunting…”
The video is, in a word, iconic.
Among the many joys that the 2024 Olympics brought me, the main one was getting to know Brazil’s female gymnasts – Saraiva and Barbosa, Rebecca Andrade and Loren Oliveira. Their stories were incredible, yes, as well as their gravity-defying feats. Seeing Andrade and Simone Biles on the podium together, Two black women at the top of their gameWhich made me happy and I also went away.
But what struck me most about the Brazilian team, apart from their obvious talent, was how glamorous they all were; How, colloquially, not a single card in their face ever refusedSaraiva and her teammates have the same indescribable quality that Biles has, a star power that is as captivating as her athletic prowess. What’s even better is that if this video is anything to go by, which includes her thumbs up at the end, Saraiva knows this.
