Euro 2024: Mbappe “moving in the right direction” to be available for the match against the Netherlands

France coach Didier Deschamps says “everything is going in the right direction” for Kylian Mbappe to play in the second game of Euro 2024 against the Netherlands on Friday.

The 25-year-old striker had to be substituted in the 1-0 win against Austria on Monday after break his nose.

During an aerial duel, he hit his opponent Kevin Danso’s shoulder with his face.

Mbappe was taken to Düsseldorf hospital where the fracture was confirmed before returning to the national team’s training camp.

The French Football Federation (FFF) announced that the striker would not require surgery and that a protective mask would be made.

“I can confirm that Kylian Mbappe is feeling better and everything is going well enough for him to be available tomorrow,” said Deschamps.

“It’s going in the right direction.”

Deschamps added about the mask: “He will play with a mask, you don’t need to know any more details about this mask.”

Mbappe has scored 47 goals in 80 appearances for his country, but he has yet to score a goal at a European Championship.

He will Become part of Real Madrid after the tournament, when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires.
