As nationwide protests continue against the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, India’s T20 captain Surya Kumar Yadav Breaking his silence on the matter, he has sent out a strong message. Last week, a postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata. This has led to unrest in the city. Sreekumar shared a template post on Instagram, which read: “Educate your son and your brothers and your father and your husband and your friends”.
Suryakumar is not the first player to react to this tragedy. Suryakumar is also among the other star players. Jasprit Bumrah, mohammed siraj, mohammed shami And Jemima Rodrigues has also raised her voice against this tragedy.
A few days ago, star fast bowler Bumrah re-shared a post of Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt on his Instagram story.
“Another brutal rape. Another day to realise that women are not safe anywhere. Another horrific atrocity that reminds us that it’s been over a decade since the Nirbhaya tragedy, but not much has changed,” Alia wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Bumrah’s fellow pacer Siraj shared a collage of headlines of news reports on rape and then wrote: “What’s your excuse this time or is it still his fault cos men will be men, right?”
Supporters of India’s two biggest football clubs, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, also gathered for a joint protest outside Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday. They were joined by supporters of Mohammedan Sporting Club, which will play in the Indian Super League this season.
East Bengal and Mohun Bagan were scheduled to play a Durand Cup match on August 18. However, the match was cancelled on the eve of the match.
Meanwhile, the prime suspect is Kolkata Police’s civilian volunteer Sanjoy Roy, who was posted at the police post at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and had access to all departments. The victim’s family has alleged that there are more than one accused involved.
