The 2008 Redeem team was a very special American team that won the gold medal in men’s basketball at the Olympics.
Even after all these years, people consider this to be one of the best Olympic teams ever.
Of course, the same can be said about the 2024 team we just saw.
So which one is better?
Speaking at Giles Arena, Redeem team member Dwight Howard said the 2008 team would beat this year’s squad.
It was a statement that Gilbert Arenas agreed with.

Howard pointed to all the talent that the 2008 team had.
He played alongside a much younger LeBron James, as well as players such as Kobe Bryant, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, and others.
It was a gathering of the best talent the NBA had to offer.
This year’s team was amazing in its own right, but they are much older than the 2008 team and that would have helped the Redeem team immensely.
Now that the 2024 team has returned home as champions, more and more people are comparing them to the previous teams.
These types of comparisons are expected and will surely continue in the months and years to come.
But the really important thing is that both teams secured the gold medal for their country and made basketball fans around the world very happy.
The fact that these two teams are mentioned so often ensures that they will forever hold an important place in Olympic history.
One of the reasons these teams are compared to one another is because they are both incredibly special.
