The College Football Playoff will expand from four teams to 12 teams in 2024.

The top four seeds will be the four power-conference champions.

The winners of the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Big 12 receive byes into the quarterfinals.

Teams numbered 5-11 will be the at-large teams and team numbered 12 will be the best team from the Group of Five.

The preliminary round games of No. 5 vs. No. 12, No. 6 vs. No. 11, No. 7 vs. No. 10 and No. 8 vs. No. 9 will be played at the stadium of the better-seeded team.

All subsequent rounds will be played at neutral sites, so the top four teams will receive byes but will not play actual home matches in the playoffs.

The Fiesta, Sugar, Rose and Peach Bowls will have quarterfinal games on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The Orange and Cotton Bowls will have semifinal games on Jan. 9 and 10. The National Championship Game will be Jan. 20 in Atlanta.

The quarterfinal and semifinal sites will rotate among the New Year’s Six bowl sites during the 12-team playoff era.
