Cam Heyward and the Steelers agree on a $45 million deal

“Heyward, 35, who had $16M left on the final year of his previous deal, is now under contract through 2026, giving the longtime Steeler captain a chance to retire. His signing bonus is roughly $15M,” Fowler tweeted.

Hayward is entering his 14th season with the Steelers and has always said he wants to Ending his career With the team.

“There’s some guys that are one-helmet guys. I want to be one of those one-helmet guys,” Heyward said.

Heyward has been vital to the Steelers on and off the field, and with the contract extension, he will continue to do just that for the next three years.

Cam Heyward has been a staple with the Pittsburgh Steelers and he has the stats to show why. In his career, Heyward has 647 tackles, 118 tackles for loss, 175 quarterback hurries, 47 passes defended, eight forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and two interceptions. He has 80.5 career sacks, which is tied for second in team history with James Harrison. TJ Watt is first on the list with 96.5 career sacks.

Heyward has played in 194 career games, starting 159 of them since 2014. The 194 games put him seventh on the Steelers’ all-time list, and he has a chance to move into fourth place this season.

The Steelers have always been known as a dominant defense, and Hayward has been a major reason for that. This season should be no different, and if the aggression stays intact, the Steelers could be a team that can once again make it to the postseason under head coach Mike Tomlin, who has gone 17 consecutive seasons without losing with the team.
