With the news that Rodri is out for the season, Manchester City’s title credentials are under the microscope without their star midfielder at St James’ Park this weekend.

The Citizens travel to Newcastle on Sunday in a standout Premier League clash and ahead of the game I have made four-fold picks of 78/1 which you can see below.

Newcastle vs Man City Ultimate Bet Builder

Erling Haaland will score 2+ goals

Haaland continued his excellent start to the season with the opening goal against Arsenal last weekend. The Norwegian has already scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season, with two or more goals in three of his last four league matches.

The striker faces a Newcastle defense that is struggling despite their strong results this season. They have conceded the third-most shots per game so far and the number of expected goals against them is worse than all but five teams. Haaland could potentially run riot in this contest, so back him to score two or more once again.

Harvey Barnes had 1+ shots on target

Despite Newcastle’s defensive struggles, their forward line has made major contributions. Alexander Isak has had an up-and-down campaign, but winger Harvey Barnes has forced his way into the starting lineup with some strong performances.

Barnes has averaged 0.8 shots on target per game this season, while leading the team in expected goals. The winger has scored in each of his last three league appearances, so he is good value for a shot on target against a City team who will be more open at the back with Rodri missing.

Bernardo Silva had 1+ shots on target

Bernardo Silva has scored five goals in the last six meetings between these two sides and the midfielder should enjoy playing behind Haaland. With Kevin De Bruyne missing this trip he is ready for a more advanced role, so Silva will need to at least have a shot on goal this weekend.

Joelinton will be given a card

Joelinton has already been booked three times in five Premier League matches this season and the Brazilian has committed more fouls per game than any other Newcastle player this season.

The combative midfielder is committing 2.6 fouls per game this season and that number is likely to increase with City coming to town. The champions are expected to flood the central areas in Rodri’s absence and Joelinton is in line for another caution if Newcastle become outnumbered in the middle.
