Australian pacer Pat Cummins scored the first hat-trick of the ongoing T20 World Cup during his team’s Super Eights match against Bangladesh in Antigua.

The 31-year-old dismissed Mahmuddulla and Mahedi Hasan with the last two deliveries of the 18th over and then returned to dismiss Towid Hridoy with the first ball of the final over to take his seventh hat-trick in the T20I World Cup.

He finished with the result 3/29.

Cummins joined fellow Australian Brett Lee as the only other Australian to score a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup, also against Bangladesh.

Lee was the first to score a hat-trick at the premier event back in 2007, and the Australian remained the only one to achieve the feat until the 2021 edition, when Irish pacer Curtis Campher (2021), Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga (2021) and South African speedster Kagisa Rabada joined the elusive list.

Other bowlers who scored a hat-trick at the T20 World Cup include Karthik Meiyappan (2022) of the United Arab Emirates and Joshua Little (2022) of Ireland.
