Arshad Nadeem’s father-in-law gifts Pakistan’s Olympic champion buffalo

Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem has been gifted a buffalo by his father-in-law. Arshad created history by setting a record of 92.97 metres in the men’s javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics.

Following Nadeem’s bravery, his father-in-law gifted him a buffalo and said that it is a “very valuable” and “respectable” gift in their village.

Nadeem was asked about this unique gift in an interview. Nadeem said on ARY News, “She (his wife) told me and I said ‘buffalo’? He could have given me five acres of land. But then I said okay, he gave me a buffalo, this is also good.”

“She found out about it through some interviews and she came to me and told me about it. I said, ‘Buffalo? By God’s grace, he is so rich and he gave away a buffalo?'” Nadeem said.

On Tuesday, the Punjab government rewarded Nadeem with Rs 1 crore and a new car.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz handed over the cash reward and car keys to Nadeem while visiting him and his family in his village Mian Chunnu.

The Chief Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs50 lakh to Nadeem’s coach Salman Iqbal Butt before returning to Lahore.
