All-Ireland SFC: Tyrone midfielder Conn Kilpatrick to face Roscommon

Tyrone midfielder Conn Kilpatrick has had his scheduled two-match ban lifted and is now available for Saturday’s All-Ireland Preliminary quarter-final against Roscommon at Healy Park.

Kilpatrick was acquitted at a meeting of the GAA’s Central Appeals Committee (CAC) on Friday evening.

Had the ban come into effect, Kilpatrick would also have missed a possible quarterfinal next week if the Red Hands advance.

The Tyrone player received a straight red card in last weekend’s round robin group match against Cork in Tullamore.

He was sent off after a linesman whistled for an off-ball altercation.

His potential ban was doubled from one to two matches as it was his second consecutive red card this year – the player had already been sent off in his team’s win over Roscommon in the Allianz Football League.

The proposed ban was confirmed by the Central Hearings Committee during the week, but the CAC has now decided that the influential Kilpatrick should be released for the appearance against the Rossies.
