Kansas City Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy said he got a very strange call from an NFL team during April’s draft.

He said, “The day of the draft was crazy. I got a call at No. 15, it was the Indianapolis Colts – they put the phone in my face.” The Rich Eisen Show Thursday. “It was a little crazy. … The Colts called my phone on draft day and hung up. He said, ‘Hello, it’s like this with the Colts,’ and then he stopped talking, and he “Hang up the phone.”

The Colts instead drafted pass-rusher Liatu Latu, who has recorded two sacks, 14 tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in eight games, while showing glimpses of potentially being an outstanding player.

So while the Colts don’t regret their draft selection, it can at least be said that the circumstances surrounding Worthy being called up are bizarre. Wrong number, maybe? Last minute change of heart? Cruel April Fool’s prank nearly a month late?

Okay, maybe not this last one. But still it is strange.
