Bryce Young will be the Panthers’ QB1 vs. Saints amid Andy Dalton’s thumb injury rehabilitation

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young will get his second consecutive start during Sunday’s Week 9 matchup with the visiting New Orleans Saints, head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Wednesday.
Andy Dalton is “progressing” from the thumb injury he suffered car accident last week and is expected to serve as a backup, Canales said.

Canales said he “erred on the side of caution” by not finding Dalton. listed Begin as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Following Young’s benching in Week 2, Dalton led the Panthers to a 1–4 record in five starts. Young stepped in following Dalton’s injury in the Panthers’ Week 8 loss to the Denver Broncos last Sunday.
