Ruben Amorim’s 29-year-old assistant is compared to Jose Mourinho and is ‘better’ than the incoming Manchester United boss
Ruben Amorim has given incredibly high praise to his assistant Carlos Fernandes before his move to Manchester United.

Fernandes, who is just 29, was first assistant manager for Benfica’s youth wing before becoming their manager for a year in 2017.
He became Amorim’s assistant at fellow Liga Portugal team Casa Pia, before moving to Braga’s B team and then the senior team.
Both won the Taça da Liga with Braga in the 2019/20 campaign before moving to Sporting at the end of that season.
The partnership has certainly been a success, with Portugal having since won two Liga titles and two Taça da Liga titles.
Amorim and Fernandes are now set to bring their expertise to a United side who are a far cry from first-placed Sporting this season.
They are 14th in the Premier League and have won only three of their first nine games, losing four of them.
