The Phoenix Suns got the 2024-25 season off to a positive start with a 116-113 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in overtime on Wednesday.
It wasn’t the prettiest night for the Suns’ stars, but they had enough to do against James Harden and the Clippers, who are without Kawhi Leonard as he continues rehabbing a knee injury.
Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Bradley Beal had 24 points. Devin Booker had a slow start to the night but finished with 15 points in the fourth quarter before fouling out.
Durant proved he was still capable of hitting clutch shots, making a jumper with less than 30 seconds left to tie the game and ultimately send it to overtime.
In overtime, a tight battle continued back and forth, before James Harden got a chance to tie things up with less than five seconds remaining. He hit the first but missed the second free throw, giving the Suns the game.
After winning Game 1 of the long season, fans praised the Suns for taking care of business in the first game of the year.

There’s nothing like an overtime thriller to set the tone for the season, and that’s exactly what the Suns got on Wednesday.
