The Lakers rested all five of their starters, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell. They also benched some players who have rotation spots in Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, Max Christie and rookie Dalton Knecht.
This gives players like James a great opportunity to develop, see more court time, and become a more elite offensive player.
James certainly had his moments in this one, even though the Golden State Warriors defeated LA 132-74 this evening.
James had struggled shooting in summer league and the preseason before this game, but he showed great offensive efficiency under the bright lights on Friday. He made his first three shots of the preseason, was more aggressive than usual and proved to be efficient as well.
Fans were impressed with his efforts, while some also noted how difficult it is for James to finish his rookie year with so many people watching him.
The Lakers’ preseason ends after Friday. Next up is the regular season, which begins with the Minnesota Timberwolves visiting LA on Tuesday.
