To say that Rudy Gobert is not the most popular player in the NBA would be an understatement.
In fact, we can even make a case for him being the most disrespected player in the league.
However, despite all the criticism – whether deserved or not – Gobert’s resume shows him as a future Hall of Famer.
Furthermore, he has already made more money in his career than some of the greatest players in NBA history.
That is why, even though people, pundits and even some of his current and former colleagues may want to defame him, he is not bothered by such ridicule.
In a recent interview with Mark Medina, the French big man claimed that those who criticize him or discredit his four Defensive Player of the Year awards should back up their claims with data (Legion through hoops).
Rudy Gobert asks for receipts from people who defaced his DPOY awards:
“Make sure you bring receipts. Make sure you come up with numbers and data that can prove your point.”

This is fair, as his advanced stats are usually some of the best in the league.
Again, that was never the issue.
Everyone has seen what a good defender he is.
This only puts more weight on his shoulders at crucial times, and we’ve seen him play off the floor in clutch times and in the playoffs.
You can’t be Defensive Player of the Year and go undefeated in certain scenarios; This is just a fact.
Still, no one can take anything away from what he has achieved.
Whether you like him or not, like him or not, Gobert has earned his way in the league and deserves a lot of credit.
