Liv Morgan defeated Rhea Ripley at WWE Bad Blood on Saturday, retaining the Women’s World Championship in a DQ loss due to Dominic Mysterio being trapped in a shark cage.

Bad Blood created a rematch of the meeting between Morgan and Ripley at SummerSlam, in which Liv retained the Women’s World Title thanks to Mysterio’s decision to turn on Ripley.

Morgan’s former tag team partner Raquel Rodriguez returned to the ring after being out since February following a mast cell activation syndrome diagnosis.

The timing could not have been better as Ripley approached Mysterio, who was hanging by his legs from the high cage, and began raining down kendo stick strikes on him.

The surprise appearance of Rodriguez, when she attacked Ripley, prompted the referee to call the bell, resulting in a disqualification and allowing Morgan to retain the title.

After scoring a victory over Becky Lynch to retain the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 40, Ripley was attacked backstage by Morgan, who was out for revenge as Ripley had previously wasted several months of her career due to injury. Had given.

Ripley was injured as a result of that attack, and had to vacate the title as a result, ending her year-long title reign.

Lynch won a battle royal to win the vacant title, but her run was short-lived, as Morgan defeated her thanks to the help of Dominic, who claimed she had accidentally assisted the enemy.

In the weeks that followed, Dom helped Liv on several other occasions, but it was always in a random manner, making it seem like he had no intention of actually doing anything on her behalf.

Nevertheless, Ripley was angry with Dominic upon his return from injury, although he was eventually able to get back on her good side and accompanied her to the ring for her match against Morgan at SummerSlam.

This proved to be a mistake on Rhea’s part as Dom removed any doubts about his loyalties by giving Liv a steel chair and then kissing her after her victory.

Judgment Day erupted that night, as Finn Balor stripped Damian Priest of the World Heavyweight Championship during his match against Gunther later in the night, prompting Priest and Ripley to seek revenge.

The Terror Twins took the first step towards doing so at the Bash in Berlin by defeating Liv and Dom in a mixed tag team match, which set the stage for a title rematch between Ripley and Morgan at Bad Blood.

In an effort to make the match more interesting, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Dom would have to watch it from inside the shark cage.

Ripley’s size and strength advantage probably made her the favorite to win back the title, but Morgan had the support of The Judgment Day, and she used her resourcefulness to retain it.
